Snow Summit is busy building trails and getting ready to open May 25th for a season that could user in a new era for mountain biking in Big Bear Lake and the San Bernardino Mountains. This year the chairlift will be carrying mountain bikes, hikers, site-seers, and zip lines adventurers to the top of the Snow Summit Ski Resort. The zipline is new and I've heard it will keep expanding next year. Also new this year is mountain bike specific downhill trails on the resort's ski runs. This hasn't happened in about 10 years!

And that's not all! The Big Bear Trails Foundation is also building a new singletrack that will mainly be used by mountain bikers. Starting just south of 2N10 behind Snow Summit is a XC singletrack that will eventually stretch for 15 miles. You can already ride at least 3.5 miles of this new Skyline Trail. It will be the longest singletrack in the area after the Santa Ana River Trail.

Can Big Bear Lake finally become a mecca like other Mountain Bike destinations such as Moab, Ut, Fruita, Co, St. George, Ut,  Sedona, AZ?

I sure hope so!

Below is a teaser video they put out of the trail being built!
